First Entry

I've been reading a few threads recently about choices of weaponry when fighting zombies. I don't really understand the idea of getting the biggest gun, the gun that shoots the farthest and the gun that shoots the fastest. I mean the whole idea is survival, not eradication. It's about setting up a place that is safe. somewhere that you can live and be able to protect from zombies. It's not about going out and hunting them, it's not about shooting at one from 2 miles away with a gun that can shoot through the armor on a tank.
I think when choosing a weapon you have to be smart. In "Snow Crash" Hiro gets rid of his gun and takes the swords with him because the kids weren't afraid of the gun. he made a smart choice on weapons given the situation. The thing is zombies aren't afraid of anything. It's not like shooting at a real person. you shoot at someone they take cover. You shoot at a zombie, unless you hit it in the head, it keeps coming, it doesn't even know it has been shot. They are like the French infantry in Napoleon's army. They came at the British in columns. Justa mass of guys that marched forward they guys in the back moving up to fill in the spots of the men that fell. The only way the British could defeat them was by pouring bullets into them. It was either destroy or break the column.
Zombies don't break.
